Setting Up Payroll for EI
To configure your Sage HRMS Payroll system for EI processing:
- Set up the EI tax. (For more information, see Income Taxes.)
- For each earning subject to EI tax, assign the EI tax to that earning. (For more information, see Using Earning/Deduction Codes.)
- Assign the EI tax to employees. (For more information, see Assign Earnings/Deductions to Employees.)
After you have configured your system, the Payroll program automatically calculates and tracks federal (or Quebec) EI information whenever you process paychecks. If you enter timecards during payroll processing, be sure to enter the information required for proper EI processing, such as the number of hours worked and the rate/amount/percent of the earning.
