Tracking EI and Printing the ROE report
The payroll program calculates and tracks insurable earnings and the employment insurance premiums paid by employee and employer on those earnings.
Whether you process payrolls by means of timecard entry, manual checks, automatic calculation without timecard data, or any combination of methods, the system automatically determines EI insurability of pay periods and maintains records of employment for producing the Record of Employment (ROE).
If an employee stops working in insurable employment, you need to print a ROE report for that employee. Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC) uses this report to determine a person’s eligibility for EI benefits.
