Assigning training programs

Use the Assign Programs task to add programs to the training requirements of an employee or a group of employees. When you assign a training program to an employee, Sage HRMS Train adds all courses in the program's curriculum to the employees list of required courses. As the employee completes courses in the program's curriculum, you can track their progress on the Training Programs page.

Example: An employer has a program called Customer Relations, which includes a series of courses aimed at improving customer service skills. Management has determined that all employees in the Customer Service department must complete this program. You can use the Assign a Program task to assign the program to the training requirements of everyone in the Customer Service department.

To assign a program to students

  1. Select Training > Tasks > Assign Programs.
  2. In the table on the Select a Program page, highlight the program you want to assign to students, and then click OK.

    Tip: To help locate the program, for Search Criteria (below the table), select either Description or Code, and then type the first few characters of a program description or code. The table only shows programs that match your search criteria.

  3. Review the table on the Assign a Program page, which shows all students who are currently assigned the selected program.
  4. To assign this program to other students, click Add.
  5.  On the Employee Criteria tab of the Assign a Program to Employees page, choose how to select the students who will be assigned the program.

    Tip: To save the criteria you specified for this task for future use, click Save. The next time you assign a program to students, you can click Restore to reuse these settings. This comes in handy if you assign programs to the same group of students on a frequent basis.

    Note: If the student who you select has already completed the program, that student will not be added again.

  6. On the Defaults for Each Program tab of the Assign a Program to Employees page, specify program information (such as the end date) that will be added to the Training Programs page for the selected students. (This default information can be changed on that page if needed.)
  7. When finished specifying the student criteria and program defaults, click OK.
  8. Sage HRMS Train displays a verification message box with the number of students to be added to the table of students assigned the program. If only one student will be added, the verification message specifies the student. Click Yes to add the students to the table and update their Training Programs pages.
