About the Calculation Order of Timecard Lines Eligible for Overtime

When processing a timecard, Payroll processes the detail lines that are assigned overtime schedules, in the following order:

  1. Level of the earning (as defined in the Earnings And Deduction setup window) — lowest level first
  2. Date specified on the timecard detail line — earliest first
  3. Start Time specified on the timecard detail line — earliest first
  4. Period End Date (only if there are multiple timecards) — earliest first
  5. Timecard Number (only if there are multiple timecards) — in ascending order
  6. Line No. of the detail line on the timecard — in ascending order

This could affect the amount of overtime that is calculated. For example, if the first 5 parameters are the same for both Earning A and Earning B, then the calculated overtime may differ depending on whether you enter Earning A before or after Earning B on the timecard (that is, if Earning B was on line 1 and Earning A was on line 2, Payroll will process Earning B first).
