Selecting open enrollment insurance plans
Note: This information applies only if you are using Sage Employee Self Service.
Before you select the insurance plans to be available for open enrollment in Sage ESS, make sure the insurance plans are set up in Sage HRMS. See Setting up benefit insurance plans for detailed instructions.
The Enrollment Insurance Plans page for the enterprise shows all benefit insurance plans already added for open enrollment. The effective from and to dates are also displayed to show each plan's open enrollment period.
- Select Setup > Codes > Employees > Open Enrollment > Insurance Plans.

Click
to add other plans. -
On the Select Current Benefit Plans page:

In the Available column, select the plan you want to add.
Note: This column lists active benefit insurance plans not yet selected for open enrollment. If a plan does not have an Effective From and Effective To date (entered on the General tab of the Benefit Insurance Plans Detail page), the plan does not display in this list.
- Double-click the plan or click Select > to add it to the Selected list on the right.

When finished, click OK.
Sage HRMS saves the selected benefit plans and their associated rate tables so they will now be available for open enrollment in Sage ESS.
Notes:
- If a benefit plan is set up at an employer level, it will be saved as an open enrollment benefit plan at the same employer level. Similarly, if it was set up at the enterprise level, it will be saved at the enterprise level.
- If you are adding a benefit plan that uses the same rate table that a current open enrollment plan uses, the program will not save the plan and a message will display. In this case, you must assign a unique rate table to the plan before you can add it.

On the Enrollment Insurance Plans page, review the plans and verify that their Effective From and Effective To dates are correct.
Note: If you need to change a plan's code, description, benefit type, employee contribution frequency, COBRA continuation, or plan effective dates, go to the plan's Benefit Insurance Plans Detail page and make the necessary changes. Then, repeat these steps to add the plan.
Important! You should never delete an insurance plan if it is currently being used in an open enrollment that has not yet been transferred to Sage HRMS.
- Select Setup > Codes > Employees > Open Enrollment > Insurance Plans.

Select the plan you want to remove and click
. - A message displays reminding you that the plan and associated rate tables will be deleted. If the open enrollment period for the plan is currently in progress and employees have already made selections, the program will delete all employee selections. If you still want to delete the plan and associated rate tables, click OK. Otherwise, click Cancel.
Important! You should never edit an insurance plan if it is currently being used in an open enrollment that has not yet been transferred to Sage HRMS.
Use these steps to edit plan amounts only if the amounts do not use a rate table. If a plan uses a rate table and you need to change the rates for the new plan year, use the Open Enrollment Rate Table Setup page to adjust rate table values.
- Select Setup > Codes > Employees > Open Enrollment > Insurance Plans.

Select the plan you want to edit and click

On the Enrollment Insurance Plans Detail page, change the following plan amounts as necessary:
- Coverage Amount
- Dependent Coverage Amount
- Employee Contribution
- Employee Premium
- Dependent Premium
- Other Calculated Amount
Note: If you use an expression for any of these plan amounts, Sage ESS can only support benefit calculation expressions that reference records in the following tables.

- Click OK to save the changes and return to the Enrollment Insurance Plans page.
