G/L Optional Fields Field List
For information about fields in the G/L Optional Fields window, click the field names below.

in this field if you want the program to display the optional field and its default value on the transaction detail when you are using this account on the transaction entry, for example, in Recurring Entry.Select
if you do not want the optional field to display automatically.Enter or select the value that the program will display as the default for the optional field.
If the optional field you selected requires validation, you must select a value that is defined for the optional field in Common Services. However, if the optional field allows blanks, you can leave the default value field blank.
If the optional field does not use validation, you can do one of the following:
- Select a value that is defined for the optional field in Common Services.
- Leave the field blank.
- Enter a combination of alphanumeric or special characters and spaces.
The entry must be consistent with the type of field (text, number, date, amount, and so on) and must not exceed the number of characters specified for the optional field. In a Yes/No field, you can enter only
or .When you specify a value that is defined in Common Services, the program displays the description for the value.
Select or enter an optional field code that you have set up in Common Services.
When you enter the optional field code, the program displays the description for the optional field.
Specify whether the optional field is for use with accounts or with transaction details.
When you choose Required, you also must choose Auto Insert. (The system does not allow you to save an optional field when Required = and Auto Insert = ).
Thus, when you create a new account (using G/L Accounts), the required optional field displays on the appropriate tab. You cannot add the new account without the required optional field.
This is true for optional fields set up as Required for both Accounts and Transaction Details.
The Value Set field indicates whether a default value is specified for a selected optional field.
The Value Set field changes to automatically when you enter a default value for the optional field. You can also change the field to or by double-clicking in the Value Set field.
If the optional field is validated, you can specify only values that are specified for the optional field in Common Services.
The following table explains the relationship between the Value Set and the Auto Insert fields.
