Note: If you want to delete several tax records at once, you can use the Delete Inactive Records window.

Before you start

  • Before adding or changing tax information, make sure you understand the impact the tax settings have on payroll processing.
  • Before you modify a tax, note that:
    • If you modify the G/L accounts associated with a particular distribution code, the changes you make affect the posting of the employee tax for all employees assigned that distribution code.
    • Changes you make to any other tax fields, for example, the Level field and the Base Earnings or Base Deductions Include fields, also affect the calculation of the employee tax.
    • Changes you make to tax fields that cannot be overridden at the employee level also affect the employee tax. Examples of such fields would be the Level field and the Base Earnings or Base Deductions Include fields.
  • Before you delete a tax, ensure that:
    • The tax is not assigned to any of your employees.
    • The tax is not referenced in any of your years of retained payroll history.
