Fields Available in Expression Builder
You can access the Expression Builder by clicking the Expression Builder arrow button on the pages listed below.
Pages with Expression Builder
- From the File menu, you can select either New Template or Modify Template to access the Template Setup page.
- Select a specific database
that contains the fields you want to import or export.
The file selected in the Database field on the Template Setup page determines which database is available in the Expression Builder associated with the Template Defaults page. - Click the Template Defaults arrow button to open the page where you select the defaults for your import or export.
- Set the defaults for your import or export.
- From the Import/Export Record Selection drop-down list, select Records That Meet Criteria.
- The Expression Builder
is activated. Click the arrow button to open it.
In the Fields list are all field names of the database you selected in the Template Setup page. You can use this list to insert a field name in the Rule area, or you can write your own expression from scratch in the Rule area.
- From the File menu, you can select either New Template or Modify Template to access the Template Setup page.
- Click the button. The Add Template Field page opens.
- The Master file (HRPERSNL) is listed in addition to any other database selected. Select a database that contains the fields you want to use.
- Create an expression
to use as a conversion rule. You can either enter it in the Conversion
Rule text box or click the arrow next to Expression Builder.
The fields available depend upon the database you have selected in the Select Field From area. You can use this list to insert a field name in the Rule area, or you can write your own expression from scratch in the Rule area.
- From the main menu, select Import/Export>Import ASCII File into Sage HRMS.
- When the template selection list appears, choose a template. The Import to Sage HRMS page opens.
- When you open the Expression Builder from the Import to Sage HRMS page, you can create criteria selection rules for fields in either one or two databases, depending upon your selections when you created the template. In the Template Setup page, if you chose one of the Sage HRMS master files, Employee Personnel or Applicant Tracking Master, as the Database, fields from that master file are available to you in the Expression Builder.
If you selected a database other than Employee Personnel or Applicant Tracking Master in the Template Setup, you have, in effect, chosen two databases with which to work. For example, if you selected Employee Dependent as the Database, you have fields from both Employee Dependent and Employee Personnel available.
- To alternate between displaying the fields in Employee Dependent and Employee Personnel, select
the appropriate alias, or abbreviated name, in the From Table drop-down list.
Example The alias for Employee Dependent, De, would appear in the Table field as the default and the fields from Employee Dependent would appear in the Fields list. To switch to the Employee Personnel file in the Expression Builder, select Pe, the alias for Employee Personnel, from the From Table drop-down list. The fields from the Employee Personnel file will now appear in the Fields list.
- From the main menu, select Import/Export> Export to ASCII File from Sage HRMS.
- When the template selection list appears, choose a template. The Export from Sage HRMS page opens.
- When you open the Expression Builder from the Export from Sage HRMS page, you can access the fields from the Sage HRMS master file, either Employee Personnel or Applicant Tracking Master, as well as the fields from a second database.
