Search for Duplicate SSN/SIN Numbers

When setting up employees you may have inadvertently assigned the same social security number/ social insurance number to more than one employee, or you did not enter the number, leaving it as zeroes. To report employees with the same social security numbers/ social insurance numbers use the Find Duplicate SSN/SIN feature.

Searching for Duplicate SSN/SINs

  1. From the Payroll (Processes) Periodic Processing folder, select Find Duplicate SSN/SIN.
  2. Click Proceed.
  3. If duplicate social security numbers/ social insurance numbers are entered for any employees, you can click Print to generate the Duplicate SSN/SIN Listing report, which lists these employees.

Reporting

The Duplicate SSN/SIN Listing report helps you identify employees who have been assigned the same social security number/ social insurance number. You should assign a unique social security number/ social insurance number to each employee before you start year-end processing and reporting, such as generating T4 or Relevé 1 slipsW-2 slips.
