Using shortcut keys
Sage HRMS is designed to be used with a mouse to point to select items and click buttons on the page. However, you can instead use shortcut key combinations on your keyboard. Sage HRMS uses the Microsoft Windows-standard for mouse-equivalent keystrokes.
Accessing main menu items
Note: The main menu is hidden when you start Sage HRMS. See Using the main menu for instructions to display the menu.
Instead of using the mouse, you can use the keyboard to select items from the main menu. For example, instead of clicking on Alt as you press L on your keyboard. To access , press and hold down Alt as you press R. The underlined letter in each menu category indicates the letter to press to select it.

After you select a main menu item, you can use the following keys:
- Press ↓ to navigate to the other options for the selected menu item.
- Press → to highlight the next menu category.
- Press one of the underlined letters to display the corresponding drop-down menu.
- Press Enter to open the selected menu item.
- Press Esc to cancel your selection and return to the task where you were working.
Note: Certain hot keys may change when you access certain pages in Sage HRMS. If there is more than one item with the same hot key, you can press the hot key again to toggle between them. Press ↓ to access the options for the selected menu item.
Using the Tab key
Press the Tab key to move from one item to another within a page or window. For example, as you perform the Add New Hire task, the Add New Employee page enables you to enter a first, middle, and last name for the new employee. After you enter the first name, press Tab to move to the middle name.
You can also press and hold down Shift and press Tab to move backwards one item.
This feature is particularly useful when you are working on a page that contains many items. You can keep your hands on the keyboard while you navigate around the fields in the page using the Tab key.
Using the edit and search keys
You can use the standard Windows edit key combinations to cut, copy, and paste selected text.
The following table shows the shortcut keys to use for various features.

Accessing pages
You can use the keyboard shortcuts to open pages and move from one page to another.
Note: The list of shortcut keys might be different for a customized system or if you do not have access to every page in the program.
