Displaying and Editing G/L Account Information

G/L Accounts

The G/L Accounts setup window contains links that lead to windows for displaying and editing account information.

These windows let you create account records, display account balances, maintain budget information, view source-currency information, display transaction history and fiscal set comparisons, and set account permissions.

Chart of Accounts

Displays all of the accounts in the general ledger, in account number order, beginning with the account you specify.

The Chart of Accounts report includes the information entered for an account on the Detail tab in the G/L Accounts window, and it includes buttons that let you display account history, budget information, transaction history, and fiscal set comparisons for the account you selected.

Accounts

Displays the information entered to define an account. You can use the window to look up information and to add, modify, and delete General Ledger accounts.

Transaction History Inquiry

Displays opening and closing balances for the selected fiscal year and currency, net changes and ending balances by fiscal period, and totals of the Year-End adjustments and closing transactions. When setting up for the first time, you can add historical data for accounts.

Create Accounts

Lets you create new account records automatically by:

  • A range of accounts
  • A range of account groups
  • A specific segment code

Create Accounts lets you automatically generate new General Ledger accounts that have the same characteristics as a set of existing base accounts. For example, if you need to create a set of accounts for a new department, you can create a set of new accounts using the accounts for an existing department as the model.
